•Junior Activities•

Our junior squad has about 40 members, both girls and boys with ages ranging from 6 to 16 years of age. The club actively promotes team building and a fair play ethos to both girls and boys. There are no hockey leagues for junior teams however this does not make the competition any less intense in the matches and tournaments which are arranged. We look to run teams which include U9, U11, U13 and U15 for girls and boys. The actual teams will depend on the players who join each season. In addition to introducing players to hockey and gradually building their skills we run internal club tournaments which are designed to provide team play experience. These also provide an opportunity for our junior players to be in the same team as some more experienced senior players, so learning from their match playing experience. These tournaments are held twice a season and are enjoyed by all who take part.

Junior players playing on a Sunday currently cost £30 for the season. Each Sunday we ask for a training or match fee of £3. All players will need to wear training or astro shoes and should have shin guards and a gum shield. We can provide hockey sticks for those who do not have one. Coaches are on hand to advise. Junior hockey trains on a Sunday morning from 10.30 am to 12.00 and our season of hockey continues until Easter. Away fixtures will involve travel and we ask parents to help where possible.

The whole family is welcome and the last session of each half of the season is set aside for the juniors to play against the coaches and parents.  At the end of the season we hold a Junior Awards session at which age group awards are presented along with many other medals and certificates of achievement.
