•About Us•
Vauxhall Chiltern Ladies Hockey Section is a well established field hockey club, with a rich history having been formed originally in 1922. Originally known as Chiltern Ladies Hockey Club and operating for many years from Wardown Park in Luton, the club has been amalgamated into Vauxhall Recreation Club, allowing us the use of their excellent facilities, including a high grade Astroturf pitch.
We operate a number of teams of differing abilities, two of which compete in the 5 Counties Women's Hockey League and one in the prestigious Midlands Division. We also provide for our junior members with a very active weekend Junior's Team, taking on children from as young as 6 years old. Both girls and boys are welcomed into the Junior activities, with promising players being moved up into either the 5 Counties league teams, or the Vauxhall Men's Hockey as appropriate. Since the club has been around a long time, there are also many older players, and Vauxhall Chiltern operate a number of "Vets" matches to keep everyone involved and playing the game they enjoy the most.
Matches are typically played on weekends, but training is also provided for during the week using the facilities at the Vauxhall Brache, and Juniors also have additional training provided on Sunday mornings. During the summer months, outside of season, the club also operates summer training, with many activities to keep the club members entertained and fit.
Club members are also provided many opportunities to further their hockey skills, including training in hockey leadership and Umpiring training leading to recognised qualifications within the sport.
Aside from the hockey, Vauxhall Chiltern also run a healthy social calendar, with activities happening at various times throughout the year, including Quiz Nights, Race Nights, Bowling and meals out, to name but a few.
